According to www.americashealthrankings.org, Georgia was ranked 36th in overall health in 2012 and has gone increased compared to a ranking of 43rd in 2009. The life expectancy is 77.09 years, which is slightly shorter than the national average of 78.7 years.

When it comes to healthcare spending, Georgia is ranked 37th, with a $51 million budget slated for 2013. Georgia is also one of the poorest-ranked states in insurance, being ranked 43rd in the country. The number of people living without insurance is 19.3%, marking an increase of over 4% in the past decade. The availability of primary care physicians is ranked 35th in the nation, with approximately 102.3 PCPs per 100,000 residents, which is slightly lower than the national average of 121.
