According to www.americashealthrankings.org, Wyoming was ranked 23rd in overall health in 2012, decreasing from 21st in 2011. The life expectancy is 77.61 years, which is shorter than the national average of 78.7 years.

When it comes to healthcare spending, Wyoming is one of the best-ranked at 7th and is among the highest in per capita public health funding, spending an average of $123 per person. The percentage of people who were uninsured in 2012 was 17.5%. Ranked 36th in the country, the number of people living without insurance has increased from 13.6% in 2009. The availability of primary care physicians in Wyoming is ranked 44th, averaging out to approximately 89.6 PCPs per 100,000 residents, which is slightly lower than the national average of 121.
